WORK HOURS: 

6:00am - 2:30pm

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: 

Full-Time, 40 hours per week. 260 days per year.

 

SUMMARY: 

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, in addition to possible grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:

This position will perform skilled mechanical and electrical work on HVAC equipment, hot water boilers, commercial kitchen equipment, lighting, and related facility equipment. Plumbing repairs, in-house construction projects, snow removal, operating motorized equipment, working with inspectors and contractors, will also be performed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated possession of the skills necessary to perform the work.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver’s license. Successful applicant will be required to submit to our insurance provider’s review of their driving record and receive a satisfactory result.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Experience installing electrical circuits, conduit, light fixtures a plus. Reading blueprints, schematics, line diagrams.  Ability to maintain and repair plumbing related systems to include air, natural gas, water and sewer. HVAC Universal certification. Welding and drywall repair. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.  Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is cotinuously required to walk, stand, and sit and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to bend and use fingers, tools, or controls.  The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Must be able to frequently lift up to 60 pounds and work off of ladders/lifts.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee is continuously required to meet deadlines with time constraints, interact with the public and other staff. The employee may be exposed to hazards, adverse weather conditions, odors, and unpleasant surroundings.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
