EMPLOYMENT STATUS: 

Part-Time; Stipend payment per Collective Bargaining Agreement

 

SUMMARY: 

To carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Athletic Director. To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Has thorough knowledge of the Athletic Code Handbook and is responsible for the implementation of these policies.
• Has knowledge of existing system and Conference regulations; implements these regulations consistently and interprets them for the staff.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all meetings that require attendance.
• Attend coaches’ meetings.
• Promotes the sport within the school through recruiting athletes that are not in another sports program. If you are encouraging your athletes to specialize, you are in the wrong school. 

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

• Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
• Ensures correct documentation concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility are in place prior to the first practice.
• Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
• By his/her presence at all practices, games, and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
• Directs student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
• Upholds discipline procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contacts the parents when a student becomes ineligible.
• Discusses and encourages chemical-free habits.

EQUIPMENT:

• Is accountable for all equipment and collects and returns uniforms at the end of the season.
• Permits athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate time.
• Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.
• Secures all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
• Instills in each player a respect for school equipment and property, its care and proper use.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Athletes and team assigned to him and assumes supervising control over all athletes in program when such control is needed.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED.
